A late payment fee and interest will be charged. Missing payments can also impact your credit score.
3X reward points on UPI, on contactless payments and at pay-by-3 merchants, against 1 reward point per Rs. 100 elsewhere — so 3 points per Rs. 100 on those categories. It is a RuPay card, and RuPay is the only network whose credit cards can be linked to a UPI app at all, so this is one of very few cards where paying by QR earns the best rate on the card.
Nothing to join, and Rs. 500 a year after that. Equitas publishes no spend-based waiver for the annual fee, so it is payable each year — but at Rs. 500 it is among the cheaper paid cards in this catalogue.
Fuel, rent, wallet loads, government payments, cash advances and EMI conversions. The same list applies to every Equitas card. It is longer than several issuers publish and it covers categories households spend heavily in, so the 3X headline is worth reading against your own spending.
Equitas issues a secured version of the Tiga against a fixed deposit, which is how an applicant with no score or a thin file gets the same product. Unusually, Equitas offers a secured variant of its whole range rather than only one entry card, so a thin file does not restrict you to the cheapest product.
Equitas does not publish a rupee value for it, which is why we quote the point count rather than converting the 3X rate into a percentage. Ask the bank for the current redemption rate before judging the card on its reward rate alone.
3.75% a month, which the bank states as 45% a year, and it is explicit that the rate can rise to that level based on spending, repayment and usage patterns. The interest-free period runs up to 50 days if the bill is paid in full; interest on a cash advance runs from the transaction date.
Most cards in this catalogue either exclude UPI from earning entirely or pay a token rate on it. The Tiga puts it at the top: 3X reward points on UPI, on contactless payments and at pay-by-3 merchants, against 1 point per Rs. 100 on everything else.
That is only possible because it is a RuPay card. RuPay is the only network whose credit cards can be linked to a UPI app — no Visa or Mastercard credit card can be used to scan a QR code at all. So on a day of ordinary Indian spending, where a large share of payments are QR codes, this card reaches money most cards cannot.
Fuel, rent, wallet loads, government payments, cash advances and EMI conversions earn no reward points on the Tiga, and the same list applies to Selfe and PowerMiles.
Those are not marginal categories. Rent and fuel are often a household's two largest card-payable items, and utilities and government payments are regular. The honest way to read the 3X headline is to work out what share of your spending survives the exclusion list first, and apply the rate to that.
Equitas issues a secured variant of the Tiga against a fixed deposit, and the same is true of Selfe and PowerMiles. Most issuers offer a single secured card as an entry route; Equitas secures its whole range.
The practical effect is that a thin or absent credit file does not restrict you to the cheapest product. If the card you want is the Rs. 5,000 PowerMiles with its 2% markup and transferable miles, a deposit gets you that card rather than a starter one — which is a genuinely different proposition from how secured cards usually work.
Credit card fees, rewards and benefits change. Please verify the latest terms on the issuer's website before applying. CredSpy earns a commission on some applications; it never affects rankings or what is written here.
