It rises with annual spending in four slabs: 1X up to Rs. 1,00,000, 2X from Rs. 1,00,001 to Rs. 2,50,000, 4X from Rs. 2,50,001 to Rs. 5,00,000, and 6X above Rs. 5,00,000 — up to 6 accelerated Reward Points per Rs. 100. At the published Rs. 0.40 a point that is 0.4% at the bottom and 2.4% at the top, which is a high return for a card with no fee.
Yes. IndusInd publishes no joining fee and no annual fee on this card, with no spend condition. What makes it unusual is everything attached to it: a 1.5% foreign currency markup, eight domestic lounge visits a year, golf, a concierge and a cinema ticket twice a year, none of which a free card normally carries.
Rs. 0.40 as cash credit, or 1.2 air miles if converted. The air-mile route is worth more for anybody who flies, and it is the better reading of the card's return: at 6X the cash value is 2.4% while the mile value is higher again. Points are valid for 24 months from the date they are earned.
Two complimentary domestic lounge visits a quarter — eight a year — and two international visits a year through Priority Pass. For a card with no annual fee that is a genuinely large allowance; several paid cards in this catalogue give less.
The slab. Spending up to Rs. 1,00,000 a year earns only 1X, which is 0.4% back, and the multiplier resets each year — so a quiet year drops you to the bottom slab regardless of what you spent before. Reaching 6X needs more than Rs. 5,00,000 a year, about Rs. 42,000 a month, which is a lot for a card most people take because it is free.
IndusInd Bank, as a co-branded card with Tiger Fintech Private Limited, a Bajaj Capital group company. The bank is the issuer and the card runs on IndusInd's own terms — including its 3.83% a month interest rate and its late payment slabs.
The Tiger carries no joining fee and no annual fee at any spend level, and then attaches the benefit set of a card that charges two or three thousand rupees: a 1.5% foreign currency markup, two domestic lounge visits a quarter, two international a year through Priority Pass, golf games and lessons, a concierge, and a BookMyShow ticket worth up to Rs. 500 every six months.
That 1.5% markup is the lowest on any lifetime free card in our catalogue — the next best free card charges nothing at all in one case and 1.8% in another, and everything else is at 3.5%. For a card that costs nothing to keep, it is a strong reason to hold one purely for travel.
The Magnificent Reward Program runs in four slabs of annual spending. Up to Rs. 1,00,000 earns 1X, from Rs. 1,00,001 to Rs. 2,50,000 earns 2X, from Rs. 2,50,001 to Rs. 5,00,000 earns 4X, and above Rs. 5,00,000 earns 6X — up to 6 accelerated Reward Points per Rs. 100.
At the published Rs. 0.40 a point in cash credit that is 0.4% at the bottom and 2.4% at the top. Converted to air miles at 1.2 miles a point the top slab is worth more again. The slab resets each year, so the card rewards a household that puts everything on it and gives very little to one used occasionally.
The Tiger is issued by IndusInd Bank as a co-brand with Tiger Fintech Private Limited, a Bajaj Capital group company. The co-brand decides the rewards and the movie benefit; IndusInd decides everything else.
So the card carries IndusInd's own terms: interest at 3.83% a month, which the bank states as 46% a year and may change at its discretion, and late payment charges running from nil below Rs. 100 of outstanding to Rs. 700 above Rs. 10,000. A free card with a 46% interest rate is still a card to pay in full every month.
Credit card fees, rewards and benefits change. Please verify the latest terms on the issuer's website before applying. CredSpy earns a commission on some applications; it never affects rankings or what is written here.
