A late payment fee and interest will be charged. Missing payments can also impact your credit score.
There are three — Rewards, EMI and Credit — and pressing one before a point-of-sale transaction decides how it settles. Rewards pays with your accumulated points, EMI converts the purchase on the spot, and Credit charges it normally. It is the only card in India built this way, and the decision happens at the till rather than on a statement weeks later.
No. IndusInd states the EMI and Rewards buttons can be used only while transacting at point-of-sale merchant outlets, and do not apply to online, MoTo, IVR, Samsung Pay or ATM cash withdrawal transactions. That is the card's main limitation: its defining feature is unavailable for the way a lot of spending now happens.
A flat 12% over a tenure of 6, 12, 18 or 24 months, with no processing fee. Against the 3.83% a month — 46% a year — that a revolved balance carries, converting at the till is far cheaper. It is still borrowing, so 12% is the price rather than a benefit.
Rs. 1,999 as a joining fee, and no annual fee at all after that. IndusInd publishes no spend-based waiver for the joining fee, so it is paid once; but no annual fee is a stronger position than a waiver you have to earn each year, and it is uncommon in this catalogue.
1 Reward Point per Rs. 150 spent, on everything, with no accelerated category. A point converts to one airline mile, which is parity and better than most conversions here. IndusInd does not publish a rupee value for the point, so the return cannot be stated as a percentage.
Somebody who buys large items in shops and wants the EMI decision made at the till on known terms. If your spending is mostly online, the buttons do nothing for you and a flat 1 point per Rs. 150 is a weak reason to pay Rs. 1,999 — one of the cashback cards here would pay several times more.
The Nexxt has three physical buttons printed into it — Rewards, EMI and Credit — and pressing one before a point-of-sale transaction decides how that purchase settles. Rewards pays with accumulated points, EMI converts the purchase there and then, and Credit charges it as ordinary credit. IndusInd markets it as India's first interactive credit card and as far as our catalogue goes, that is accurate.
What makes it more than a novelty is where the decision happens. On every other card here, converting a purchase to an EMI is something you apply for after the statement arrives, at whatever rate is then offered. On the Nexxt it is chosen at the till, at a published flat 12% over 6, 12, 18 or 24 months, with no processing fee.
IndusInd is explicit that the EMI and Rewards buttons work only while transacting at point-of-sale merchant outlets. They do not apply to online transactions, MoTo, IVR, Samsung Pay or ATM cash withdrawals.
That rules out the way a great deal of spending now happens. If your large purchases are made on a website rather than in a shop, the card's defining feature is unavailable to you — and what remains is a flat 1 Reward Point per Rs. 150 with no accelerated category, which is a weak reason to pay a Rs. 1,999 joining fee.
Rs. 1,999 to join, and then no annual fee at all. That is a different proposition from the waiver most cards here offer: there is no spend threshold to clear each year and no fee to watch for on the anniversary statement.
Over five years the Nexxt costs Rs. 1,999 in total. A card with a Rs. 499 annual fee waived at Rs. 1,00,000 of spending costs nothing if you always clear the threshold and Rs. 2,945 if you never do — so which is cheaper depends entirely on how reliably you spend, and the Nexxt is the one that does not care.
