Indian Overseas Bank is a public sector bank, and the card we track from it is the ZET FD Credit Card — a secured RuPay card issued with the fintech partner ZET against a fixed deposit held with the bank.

The deposit starts at Rs. 2,000, which is among the lowest requirements of any secured card in this catalogue, and the card carries no joining fee and no annual fee. The credit limit is set at 90% of the deposit, and the deposit keeps earning interest while it secures the card.

A secured card is the usual route for anybody an unsecured card would decline — no credit score, a thin or stale file, or no income proof. What varies between them is the size of the deposit and what the card costs to hold.

Here the deposit is small, the card is free, and the deposit is insured under DICGC up to Rs. 5 lakh. The card also reports to the credit bureaus like any other, which is how a thin file gets history on it — and because it runs on RuPay it can be linked to a UPI app, which a Visa or Mastercard credit card cannot.
