A single score is almost useless on its own. 720 means one thing if you were at 690 three months ago and something else entirely if you were at 760 — the first is somebody building credit, the second is somebody who has just taken on debt or missed a payment. Lenders read the file, not the snapshot, and so should you. This keeps your readings in one place so the trend is visible.
Nothing here pulls your score. You log what your bank app, card issuer or bureau already shows you, which means no hard enquiry and no cost to the score itself. Readings stay on this device unless you are signed in.
Payment history is the largest single factor and the only one with a cliff edge: one payment more than 30 days late can cost 50 to 100 points and stays on the file for years. Credit utilisation is the fastest to move — the balance on the statement date against your limit, and under 30% is the usual advice. Age of credit rewards doing nothing, which is why closing your oldest card is the most common self-inflicted drop. Hard enquiries cost a few points each and several in a short window read as distress. Mix matters least of all.
Tracking is only worth doing if it changes a decision, and the decision is usually which card to apply for. At 750 and above almost every published requirement is met, so the question becomes which card pays most. At 700 the premium tier closes and the entry and mid-tier cards remain. With no history, or a score too low for an unsecured card, a card against a fixed deposit is approved on the deposit instead. Each of those has its own list — see the cards for a 750 score, for a 700 score, or for no credit history — and the eligibility checker will test your own figures against every card’s published criteria without an enquiry.
