Best credit cards for a Rs. 25,000 salary

Ten cards we track publish a minimum at or below Rs. 25,000 a month, and they are not leftovers — SBI Cashback at Rs. 16,667, SBI SimplyCLICK at Rs. 18,000, both ICICI Coral variants at Rs. 20,000, and MagniFi Fi-Federal at Rs. 20,000 with no annual fee at all. These are mainstream cards with real reward rates, not a separate category for people who earn less.

On Rs. 25,000 a month, Rs. 3,00,000 passes through your hands in a year and realistically a fraction of that goes on a card. So a waiver threshold of Rs. 2,00,000 is a real test, not a formality. Work it the other way round: take what you honestly spend on a card in a month, multiply by twelve, and only then look at which fees that figure waives. A Rs. 500 card waived at Rs. 1,00,000 is free for most people at this income; a Rs. 999 card waived at Rs. 2,00,000 is not.

The cap before the rate, every time. An accelerated rate in India is almost always bounded per statement cycle, so a 5% rate capped at Rs. 2,000 a month pays at most Rs. 24,000 a year while a 10% rate capped at Rs. 400 pays Rs. 4,800. Then the exclusions — rent, fuel, wallet loads, EMI conversions and often UPI earn nothing on most cards, and at this income those categories are often the largest part of the month.
